John "the Axe" Whyman - Guitar & backing vocals
John was affectionately known as "The Axe" in the early days. He spent his formative years playing in bedroom bands, but following disillusionment with the industry he hung up his guitar and set out on a normal career. Following disillusionment with being normal, The Axe is back! He's even got a T-shirt to prove it!
John maintains the band blog, which you can read here.
Gear
- Gibson Les Paul Custom in Wine Red. A lifelong dream to own a classic!! God Bless the credit card and an understanding wife. Lets face it, I could have come home with a sports car, motorbike, magic beans, anything.
- Tokai LC 85, christened "Lola". Better than any comparable Gibson that John has played. Fantastic sustain!
- Antoria Les Paul Custom 1976, named "Veronica"
- Fender Telecaster, named "Violet"
- Marshall Vintage Modern 2266 50 Watt Head with a 425A cabinet (4x12 Celestions). Named Pammy, cos the top half is as gorgeous as the bottom. Still not needed to turn it up to 11!
- Boss Chorus, Delay, Phase Shifter, Overdrive/distortion pedals, acoustic sim
- Loads of plectrums.
- Suzuki accoustic "Betty". She's fun to play when there's nothing else available. Any port in a storm
